Dorset House and Beech House are two residences in the Headington area of the city and are next door to each other. Both are within easy walking distance of the Ruskin Campus where all our lessons and meals are organised for the summer months. Students could be given rooms in either building and rooms are similar in both: single, en-suite rooms
Arrivals can check in from 16:00 and need to check out on their last day at 10:00. There are areas around the building where we can store suitcases for you. Please remember to give you room key to a member of CES staff on leaving the building for the last time.
All of the rooms are organised into apartments with anywhere between 5 - 11 rooms in each one. Nobody else can enter your apartment except other people who live there. Each one has a common area, a lounge and a kitchen, where you can meet with other students from your flat.
You can find your room on a map of the building here.
All rooms are single en-suite rooms and have a bed, desk and chair and a wardrobe. There is a small shower with a sink and a toilet
Bed linen is provided and towels are provided.
If you need a hairdryer, you will need to bring one for yourself.
Each apartment has a common area, a lounge and a kitchen, where you can meet with other students from your flat.
WiFi is available everywhere
Laundry machines: washers and dryers are operated through an app, Circuit Laundry Plus. You can transfer money onto the app from a debit or credit card. A wash will cost around £5 and drying a little more.
Common room: Social spaces, common areas, outside basketball hoop and a small outside area
Small cafés are nearby and supermarkets are a short walk from the residence
All meals will be served at our Ruskin Campus and not at the residence (the residence does not have a canteen)
Meal times are as follows:
Breakfast: 7:15 – 09:00 Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 09:30 Saturday and Sunday
Lunch: 12:00 – 14:00 Monday to Friday, packed lunch (to be collect at breakfast) on Saturday and Sunday

Ruskin College is a beautiful campus in the Old Headngton area of the city. It is a lovely green campus, with 10 classrooms and a canteen. All of your meals are taken at Ruskin College and some parts of your social programme will happen here.
Many evening social activities will take place at Ruskin College so you will need to return to the residence with your group, on foot. There will be a disco in the city on Thursday night. All full day excursions will leave from Ruskin College. In the residence, there is a table tennis table, a foosball table and a pool table.
Public buses into the centre of the city are very regular and leave from the bus stop immediately outside the buildings.
We strongly recommend that you download the app “UK Bus Checker” from the Google Play Store or the Apple store. This will show you live times of buses from the stop that you choose.
You will not need transport to reach the Ruskin College Campus. It is an easy 15 minute walk, for the most part along quiet roads with some lovely, scenic views of the Old Headington area of the city.
If you cause any damage to the room or the property, we will expect you to pay for the damage before you leave
Make sure you keep your room locked and any money or valuables in a locked suitcase. Remember, the UK uses debit and credit cards for almost all purchases. You really don’t need to bring lots of cash with you.
We expect all students to be in their flats by 22:00 and in their own rooms by 22:30. We do have a checking system in place and students breaking the curfew will face disciplinary action.
